District Commissioner
The District Commissioner is responsible for leading the Scout District; ensuring that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people, developing Scouting in the District and managing adults. The District Commissioner is responsible for the Group Scout Leaders, Deputy & Assistant District Commissioners and indirectly all adults in the Scout District.
The main roles of the District Commissioner are to;
- Ensure the District has adequate number of 'fit and proper' adults working together
- Ensure that all GSL's, Deputy & Assistant District Commissioners, and District Leaders are adequately supported including induction, training and review & development
- Resolve problems within the District including Child Protection Issues, Youth Dismissal Appeals & disputes within the District
- Ensure the appointments process is operated correctly & efficiently
- Attend formal District events e.g St Georges Day Parade
- Meet with GSL's to promote communication between Group's, devise a District development plan, identify training requirements
