Today Cub Scouts is the second Section of the Scout Movement, following on from Beavers.  Young people can become members of the Cub Scout Pack from the age of eight and progress to Scouts at around 10½ .

Cub Scouts join a Pack wanting fun, adventure and friendship. With opportunities to go on visits, explore the outdoors, play games and try new things, there’s rarely a dull moment.

Whether it’s visiting the local fire station, doing a litter pick or spending a night under canvas, boys and girls across the UK enjoy getting together to do their best.

Cub Scout History

Younger brothers of Scouts wanted a 'look-in' at Scouting as well and Wolf Cubs (which later changed to Cub Scouts) began in 1916 to provide opportunities for younger people.

The choice of the name Wolf Cubs suggested to Badden-Powell the idea of Cub Packs, and to base this new section around one on particular, the Seonnee pack from his close friend, Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book.

Throughout its existence the Cub Scout Section has constantly evolved and adapted its programme and methods to meet the changing needs of each generation.
