The Beaver Scout Colony is the first section of the Scout Movement.  Children can become members of the Beaver Scout Colony at six years old and progress to Cubs at the age of eight.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.

Beaver Scout History

Beaver Scouting began in Northern Ireland in the 1960's and was trialled in Great Britain in the 1970's, before being officially introduced in 1982.  However, it wasn't until 1986 that Beaver Scouts became an official Section of the Scout Association, when a simple promise and formal programme were introduced.  The first programme was replaced in 1995 with a relaunch of the Section and again in 2002 when the Beaver Scout Programme was brought in line with the other four sections.

Throughout its existence the Beaver Scout Section has consantly evolved and adapted its programme and methods to meet the changing needs of each generation.
